HI, I'M ERIN

Welcome to my blog!

I'm 22 years old and am on a mission to make the most out of this life. I graduated from Siena College in May 2015, and amidst the struggle of deciding what to do next, I took a rather unconventional leap. In September 2015, I moved from Massachusetts to Thailand to pursue two things that I'm most passionate about: traveling and teaching.

I came to Thailand hoping to learn about the culture, the people, and above all, myself. This experience, thus far, has forced me to challenge myself and do things I never usually would (of all the challenges, having to kill massive spiders in my room by myself has been the most difficult: even more difficult than paying rent and working 2 jobs). I've become more independent, honest, hardworking, and appreciative of my friends and family.

My first 5 months in Thailand were spent working at a high school and tutoring center in Ubon Ratchathani, the largest city in Isaan (rural northeast Thailand). Coming to Thailand, my plan was to work here for six months before returning home to find a job as a full time high school English teacher.

But my journey in Thailand is far from over. For one year, beginning in April, I will be living in Chiang Mai (northern Thailand) working as a first grade homeroom teacher at a private international school. I hope this experience will leave me with even more valuable memories and lessons, help me to grow and establish myself as an educator and a person, further immerse myself in a new culture, and help others along the way. Hope you enjoy reading about my adventures :)
